Job description

As a Protection & Controls Engineer working on utility substation projects, your primary responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and testing protection and control systems for electrical substations. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of the electrical systems by analyzing system requirements, developing protection schemes, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key duties may include:

1. Designing protection and control schemes for electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and switchgear.
2. Developing relay settings and coordination studies to ensure proper operation of protection devices.
3. Conducting fault analysis and relay coordination studies to optimize system performance.
4. Collaborating with project teams to integrate protection and control systems into overall substation design
5. Performing testing and commissioning of protection and control systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
6. Providing technical support during construction and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
7. Staying current with industry trends, standards, and best practices related to protection and control engineering.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on protection and control systems. Experience with substation design, relay coordination, and familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE and NERC is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are also essential for success in this position
