Job description
The Construction Project Manager (CPM) will lead all aspects of construction for a large-scale solar site in North Carolina. This includes managing the day-to-day activities, overseeing the construction teams, and ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale solar projects, strong leadership skills, and a passion for renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership and Coordination: Lead and coordinate all phases of solar site construction from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Team Management: Manage and mentor internal construction teams and subcontractors. Ensure that all workers are following safety protocols and procedures.
Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, track costs, and forecast project financials. Implement corrective actions when necessary to avoid schedule slippage or cost overruns.
Contractor and Subcontractor Oversight: Hire, manage, and oversee third-party contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. Ensure that all work is completed to high-quality standards, meets safety requirements, and complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Site Safety Management: Oversee site safety protocols, conduct safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety standards. Foster a culture of safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Regulatory and Compliance: Ensure all permits, approvals, and inspections are in place and that the project complies with all local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, including site conditions, equipment delays, or unforeseen issues. Develop and implement contingency plans as needed.
Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including internal teams, external contractors, local authorities, and senior management. Provide regular progress updates and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in managing large-scale solar construction projects (10-100MW) or comparable renewable energy projects.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of solar energy systems, construction processes, and project management best practices.
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera).
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage teams and build strong working relationships.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and construction site safety management.
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in North Carolina and experience navigating permitting processes.
