My Client

My client is an international IPP who: develop, construct and operate large-scale, grid-connected renewable energy projects worldwide for commercial, industrial and utility clients.

Role

  • My client are seeking a Construction Project Engineer for an offshore wind farm currently in the pre-construction phase
  • You will be responsible: for providing project engineering services to clients that are, for example, owners, financiers, bidders or developers of offshore wind farms that are in various phases (eg design, construction, commissioning or operations)
  • Responsible, as directed, for providing project engineering services to support the delivery of asset management services by other departments within Offshore to clients (including owners or operators of offshore renewable energy assets).
  • Providing ‘project engineering services’ in the above two points means, providing and/or coordinating the input of the necessary engineering and technical support needed to deliver services.
  • Identifying engineering issues and risks to be addressed
  • Managing the production of Design Plans
  • Producing calculations and reports
  • Reviewing project or package schedules to identify and plan engineering input
  • Monitoring engineering progress
  • Identifying and implementing areas of process improvement
  • Assisting in the co-ordination of engineering activities across a range of packages and within quality standards
  • Supervision of ongoing offshore operations from a technical level
  • For certain opportunities, the role could require taking a project management role in leading or supporting delivery of the services to the client
  • Support in the estimating of project costs, resource requirements and budgets
  • Manage, and be responsible for (to the extent reasonable given the nature of the contract with the client), their own output and the output from the team ensuring it meets the requirements of the contract with the client (in terms of safety, quality and programme) and is delivered within the RES cost plan for the project
  • Understanding the relevant quality, safety and environmental management systems that apply to the work and ensure that these are adhered to at all times
  • The suitable candidate will be responsible for: Contract management, preparation and review of Technical Communication Notes; package / Contractor interface; various - HSE, QA and QC, consent compliance, stakeholder engagement and site conditions (geophysical, geotechnical and metocean);
  • Package Document Control;

The Person

  • Project management skills
  • An ability to appreciate the importance of design control and document management
  • / project governance
  • Ability to work under pressure at a detailed level
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and consultants
  • Experience in Delivering engineering and/or technical services and solutions on complex engineering projects
  • Managing multi-disciplinary project teams on complex engineering projects, including external consultants and contractors

Qualifications

  • Relevant Engineering degree (chartered would be preferred)
  • A current UK driving licence
