Project Development Manager is an opportunity to be an important member of an agile and fast-growing team that is leading a strategic and high growth business.
We are looking for a talented and energetic individual to identify, create, and lead new project development opportunities in utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and storage project development across the US. This will include identifying new prospects (greenfield sites and acquisition targets) and advancing them through the development process – leading site identification and control, interconnection and transmission work, project permitting, offtake support and community engagement. The position will work closely with our internal power marketing/origination, project finance, legal, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to help us successfully get our projects into construction and operation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify new development prospects and opportunities (greenfield sites and/or acquisition targets), including conducting market assessments, fatal flaw analyses, and in-person site reconnaissance
Lead development of self-generated and assigned projects from early-, mid-, and/or late-stages to construction-ready status
Secure site control for development prospects (e.g. negotiating leases, easements, and conducting initial site reconnaissance) and coordinate landowner interface
Lead local, state, regional and/or federal permitting processes
Lead interconnection and transmission activities
Oversee project design, working closely with the internal engineering teams
Support financial analysis, modeling, power pricing and offtake structuring
Manage tasks according to, and with accountability for, budget and schedule
Create and maintain project maps, databases, reporting tools, and tracking tools for assigned projects
Represent with partners, customers, landowners, government officials, community leaders, utilities, and other stakeholders
Key Qualifications:
Track record of 2-5 years of experience in US solar and/or wind project development
Experience interfacing directly with external parties such as landowners, government officials, and consultants
Experience identifying prospects and opportunities (e.g. greenfield sites and acquisitions)
Experience managing key development workstreams simultaneously
Strong organization, networking, time management, interpersonal, and accounting skills
Willingness to travel as necessary
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in technical/engineering or business/finance-related field
Preferred Qualifications
Candidate has both solar and wind project development experience (battery storage an additional plus)
Experience working with project engineering and EPC teams
Based in the Midwest or Western US
