Job description
The Role:
The Project Assistant role is based within our UK project development team who focus on the development and delivery of ground mounted solar and battery energy storage systems. This position is likely to suit a graduate wishing to develop their skills and experience in the renewable energy sector and looking to gain broad exposure to a number of disciplines within the sector. The role will broadly focus on junior accounting and finance functions and junior project management functions, split broadly 40% / 60% respectively during the first 12 months of the position.
For Accounting & Finance functions:
• Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers
• Debtor and creditor control
• Preparing invoices and credit notes
• Posting bills and receipts
• Maintaining weekly payment run spreadsheet
• Uploading bank payments to online banking platforms
• Bank reconciliation
• Preparing VAT returns for project companies
• Maintaining general ledger up to trial balance
• Posting Accruals / prepayments
• National Statistics Forms and correspondence with local tax office
• Supporting the processing of drawdown requests in accordance with project budgets
Project Development:
• Support the origination and development of large-scale ground-mounted solar PV and BESS projects to ready to build stage in the UK;
• Develop robust financial modelling and risk management skills to assist with project evaluation;
• Develop and maintain hard copy and electronic project registers for each project under development throughout the development process;
• Support other team members in the preparation of investment proposals
• With the support of other team members maintain and update project budgets, project status logs on an ongoing basis;
• Provide administrative support including postage, document formatting, dealing with telephone calls, delivering documents, research and any other tasks required to support the team in delivering their projects
• Liaise with in-country partners, consultants and advisors as required, and coordinate these efforts efficiently throughout the development process.
Skills required:
• Knowledge of renewable energy sector beneficial;
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD with good academic record;
• Part qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA with relevant working experience in a similar role beneficial but not essential;
• Good Microsoft office and Excel skills;
• Flexible, positive attitude and attention to detail;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Good team player, ability to work and support the team
• Experience and knowledge of Xero desirable
• Based in UK and willing to travel around and outside of UK
