Job description
PPA Sales Manager
Location: Cape Town South Africa
Our client is a listed electricity producer from wind, solar, hydro, biomass and storage and also a service provider to 3rd party clients such as Development, EPC, O&M and Distribution. They are in 20 countries, split among 4 continents, and offering a global operating capacity to their clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a business or Engineering Degree
At least 3 years of experience in the South African power market or renewable sector
Good commercial skills and connection among corporate off takers in the South African market
Ideally first corporate PPA experience (structuring, tendering, contracting, and management)
Good knowledge of the economic and regulatory conditions of energy purchases and/or electricity wheeling scheme in South Africa
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development:
Establish the strategy and set up an action plan to generate new contacts and incoming requests: communication, participation and potentially organization of internal and external events such as conferences, exhibitions, round tables, third -parties’ partnerships.
In close collaboration with internal teams, manage and process incoming requests from prospects or customers: qualification of requests for information (RFI), qualification of requests for quotations (RFQ) and private or public tenders.
Establish the first contacts with prospects / customers and qualification of their needs.
Sales:
Lead the origination of long-term new-build-asset-backed PPAs (both offsite and onsite), prepare commercial offers; lead the commercial negotiations and securing PPAs for each new-build renewable projects.
Follow closely the evolution of the renewable energy market in terms of consumers, services, offer structure etc.
Contracting:
Manage contract negotiation with Corporates.
Manage contract closing and validation through Contract Committee and Investment Committee
Manage customer and third-party quality verification (KYC – Risk Credit)
Business Process:
Survey national rules, public regulation, and electricity wheeling scheme
Participate to the development and the structuration of new offers as per South African market specifics.
Reporting:
Implement sales reporting with KPI on the realized actions.
Update the reports on offers being processed and potential offers.
Define the necessary corrective actions after the analysis of the KPIs: adjustment of the typologies of prospects or targeted sectors of activity, modification of the offers etc.
