The Opportunity

TGRC have partnered with a very well backed, innovative, pure play energy storage IPP truly at the forefront of critical green energy infrastructure in the United States.

TGRC's client is seeking an Engineer for utility-scale battery energy storage projects in the United States. The Engineer will report to the Director of Energy Storage Solutions and work closely with the Director of Asset Management, along with development directors, and project management staff. It is essential you have Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience.

The Role

  • Develop and manage technical procedures for successful operating project performance monitoring and optimization
  • Participate in site safety program and audits
  • Perform detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings
  • Maintain detailed project punch-list
  • Perform system walkdowns for mechanical completion prior to turnover or energization
  • Oversee the EPC and OEM commissioning procedures, status, and compliance
  • Assist in troubleshooting commissioning anomalies as the owner’s representative
  • Prepare and review project close out and testing documents
  • Report daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, indicators, and recovery plans to upper management
  • Interface with project's designated management committees or third parties, and act as lead Company representative of project activities

Qualifications

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS
  • Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners
  • Capable of quality control inspections and punch-list management
  • Thorough understanding of DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-500kV)
  • Familiarity to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.).
  • Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting
  • Highly organized
  • Computer skills MS word, Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with third parties and executives including comfort with presentations
  • Schedule and planning comprehension
  • Electrical Code, means and methods
  • Bachelors or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university and/or professional experience in engineering
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in the installation and operation of energy storage systems
  • Based in or willing to relocate near Boulder, CO; may consider exceptional candidates located in other U.S. cities
