Onshore Wind Farm Construction Manager – United Kingdom
My client, an established international renewable energy IPP are seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the construction of several of their onshore wind projects in the UK.
Role Purpose
This Onshore Wind Construction Director role is key to leading the delivery of an onshore wind project from the end of the development phase, through to operational handover. The Construction Director will lead project support resource, tracking and analysing the technical and commercial performance of projects – planning and organising works to ensure delivery in line with time, quality and cost.
Key Accountabilities
Act the main interface during construction activities, you will liase with relevant internal and external stakeholders including landowners and the community, to manage all resources with appropriate delegation to and management of specific specialists within other departments or subcontractors
Ensuring that all site activities and construction are carried out to the highest safety standards and in accordance with all relevant legislation and standards.
Leverage technology advancements and value engineering to optimise project design and drive down Levelised Cost of Energy.
Produce, analyse and update project capex budgets and programmes
Develop and implement execution targets for all contractors
Suitably plan, organise, monitor and report on project activities
Management of landowner relationships during project implementation to ensure potential issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner
Liaison with the Operations Management team to ensure effective handover into the operational phase
Manage and account on all project risks, ensuring management are kept fully abreast of any significant developments.
Provide quality assurance and technical sign-off on all contractor endeavours
Validate Contract milestone payments and Owners Engineer certifications
Manage the procurement process for construction and technical services in line with Company policy
Input to technical due diligence
Key requirements
Masters or undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science
5+ years experience and proven track record of successfully managing and delivering large scale renewable projects
Strong focus on high standards on construction sites
Experience of managing a dedicated Site Manager or Resident Engineer to support project delivery.
Organisationally astute with strong stakeholder management skillset that foster key internal and external relationships that are key to project success
Strong technical skillset across turbine, electrical and civil disciplines with ability to quickly decipher the key technical attributes in negotiating associated supply contracts.
