Job description
A fast-growing and dynamic green hydrogen energy company, that supports businesses to reach net zero emissions across their heat, power and transportation requirements is seeking to appoint a management accountant.
We are a small but agile company, with some of the leading global voices in the emerging green hydrogen market on our team. We are deeply passionate about addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and our focus on green hydrogen is driven by the desire to see the UK transition rapidly towards renewable resources.
The Role:
We are looking for a capable individual to join our small Finance Team and support the company’s development. Reporting into the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be integral in preparing and closing consolidated financial accounts, managing auditors, improving financial systems and processes, and assisting with reporting to management and key stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be a part or fully qualified accountant who has experience in small finance teams and can work independently to efficiently provide key reporting. They should have a passion for sustainability and will be a critical thinker who looks to understand the business beyond a focus on numbers and spreadsheets.
Their key activities include:
Manage all accounting operations of Protium, including sales invoice and purchase order preparation, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Closing Protium’s consolidated management accounts in a timely and effective way
Preparing Protium’s consolidated group financial statements and working with auditors and other stakeholders to ensure they give an accurate representation of the Company’s financial position.
Preparing individual Special Purpose Vehicle (‘SPV’) reporting and year end accounts for timely submission to Companies House
Preparing management information and working with internal stakeholders such as project managers and executive team members.
Along with the FC, designing a finance structure for bookkeeping, accounts payable and accounts receivable that gives due consideration to the merits of in house and outsourced provisions.
Managing weekly payruns, ensuring appropriate segregation of duties and up to date bank mandates
Preparing and being a leader in VAT returns and other tax reporting to HMRC
Required Experience:
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced and challenging environment, as well as confident to put their ideas forward and challenge if required.
The successful candidate will have:
Minimum of 2 years working in a similar role preparing or auditing accounts.
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (‘ERP’) systems and reporting from such systems.
Up to date understanding of recent developments in accounting standards.
Understanding of tax regulations, including VAT, corporation tax and other business taxes.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with stakeholders across all levels.
Strong skills in Microsoft office suite, notably Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Preferred Experience:
Experience of the preparation of consolidated accounts
Experience with Microsoft Business Central / NAV as an ERP system.
Experience in the renewables sector working with a small finance team.
Required Qualifications:
Part or fully qualified accountant with a CCAB recognised body or equivalent.
Location: London. The role is office based (3 days a week in the office), but travel between locations may be required from time to time.
