Summary:

A well respected and long-established renewable developer are seeking a Legal Counsel who will work as part of this businesses’ legal team based in Sydney. The role is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the relevant business units within the company.

The role will mainly assist/support the project development teams within but also a wider group of operations, commercial and technical teams. The role will primarily be providing property support to the project development teams and will include transactional work on major renewable energy projects and assisting with financial close of complex transactions.

The role will also involve providing general ad hoc legal and commercial advice typical of an in-house position. Close co-operation and liaison with internal personnel and teams will be a fundamental part of the role.

 

The Role:

As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for the following:

·        Managing a varied caseload

·        Working closely with the project development teams to provide legal support on real estate and development matters.

·        Assisting other members of the legal team (and relevant business teams) in relevant aspects of complex project finance and/or M&A transactions.

·        Liaising and managing external legal advisors, ensuring quality and consistency of service.

·        Reviewing documentation prepared by external legal advisors, identifying and reporting on potential risks in contracts.

 

What is needed from you?

·        Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian legal system.

·        Experience gained with a reputable real estate practice dealing with large scale infrastructure projects.

·        Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

·        Able to work confidently and pro-actively in a team and alone

·        Approaches work with diligence and attention to detail.

·        Previous in-house experience is not essential

·        Excellent communicator with the ability to work alongside a range of commercial and technical personnel

 

Experience & Qualifications:

·        Minimum +4 PAE required.

·        A strong real estate background ideally

·        Experience of working in the renewable energy industry.

·        Experience in other areas of law, including planning would be beneficial although not essential
