Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the development process and gain insight from more senior team members through hands on experience of renewable energy projects.

You will work as a member of the Development team assisting the Principal Design technician in the completion of feasibility studies, site design and other technical assessments of renewable energy projects, including onshore wind, solar, energy storage and anaerobic digestion.

The company headquarters are located in Stroud, Gloucestershire, and this role will require you to be in their offices for 3/4 days per week whilst you are learning from more experienced team members. The company has a flexible hybrid working policy in place, so there is also the possibility to work form home on some days. Given the nature of this job, nationwide travel may be required, so you should be able to drive and possess a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting and supporting the Principal Design Technician in the completion of feasibility studies, site design and other technical assessments.

  • Identify, understand, and interpret the site constraints and requirements in order to produce the optimum site design and manage the design process throughout the Project.

  • Create and prepare all figures as required for inclusion within an Environmental Statement/Environmental Report/Planning Application.

  • Create and prepare option and lease plans and planning condition figures for operating assets to support new applications for solar and storage adjacent to operating assets.

  • Support the Site Acquisition team with site finding using GIS.

  • Maintain GIS datasets and data licenses.

Ideal candidate qualities:

  • Knowledge and/or interest of the renewable energy industry.

  • Proven technical software skills in AutoCAD and GIS.

  • Willingness to learn the design and infrastructure requirements for renewable energy projects.

  • Possesses a full driving license and is willing to travel to visit sites and meet with consultants as required.
