THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a rare opportunity to join an established, well-funded and proven renewable energy investment team in a high profile, high impact role. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, gaining approval from the investment committee and taking the project from origination through to financial close, covering all aspects of the development and financial processes.

THE ROLE:

Originating new investment opportunities in the UK and internationally with a primary focus on onshore wind :

  • Presenting proposals and recommendations to the investment committee, and regularly updating them on progress

  • Thought leadership to support the company’s investment strategy

  • Identifying funding partners and leading the delivery of the financing of projects.

Overseeing the full development process to ensure the efficient transition of projects from assessment through to financial close and handover to construction. This will include:

  • Sourcing developers and driving and supporting them to obtain land, planning and grid permissions.

  • Monitoring development plans and budgets

  • Supporting the project management team in delivering the on-time construction of the project.

  • Providing project information and support to TSA, BOP, EPC and O&M contracts.

  • Identifying threats and risks to allocated projects and implementing solutions to resolve or mitigate them.

  • Assessing success prospects of projects and exercising judgement to continue with or propose to the Investment team to cease development.

  • Continual assessment of project viability and implementation of mitigation measures

Investment Management

  • Overseeing financial models for projects to provide both quantitative and qualitative support to risk analyses, mitigation solutions and investment decisions.

  • Understanding the economic drivers of allocated projects and ensuring ongoing robust analysis of projects undertaken to ensure allocated projects continue to meet the funds investment objectives.

  • Maximising the return on investment from developers and minimising lead times to commissioning.

  • Ensuring the Investment committee are kept up to speed on progress and gaining buy in as required.

THE INDIVIDUAL:

  • Several years’ experience in renewable energy project management with a focus on Onshore Wind, development, financing or investment with a demonstrable track record of successfully seeing projects through to planning consent and financial close.

  • Experience of end-to-end project development and construction in onshore wind.

  • Experience of running and maintaining financial models in the context of renewable energy projects.

  • A well-developed network in the renewables sector across developers and funders / investors.

  • International experience and the ability to offer expansion opportunities to new markets an advantage.

  • Exceptional commercial awareness, particularly in the context of contract formalisation.

  • Some engineering capability would be beneficial

Industry Experience and Awareness

  • Awareness of renewable policy and legislative support policies.

  • An understanding of the technical aspects of wind power project development including land, planning issues, DNO regulations, grid integration, infrastructure and HV engineering.

  • An understanding of electricity markets, market reforms and market conditions affecting long term PPAs.

  • Familiarity with quality standards, technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • An understanding of distribution engineering, relating to low and high voltage distribution systems
