Job description
We're partnered with a leading renewable energy project developer in their search for a Director of HR, People Strategy & Culture to join the team. The firm having an impressive solar development portfolio and the business is scaling quickly. This role is based out of the Chicago HQ.
As the Director of Human Resources you will partner with the CEO and departmental leaders to recruit, retain, evaluate and retain top talent and help build an effective organizational culture while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The principal duties of this role are:
Establish and grow HR function
Champion the firms unique, inclusive culture and values
Function as a strong partner to the CEO and build strong relationships with the leadership and employees
Create initial HR strategy and implementation plan in support of the company business plan and strategic direction; elements to include:
Talent Acquisition (role definition, recruiting, onboarding, Employer Value Proposition)
Culture Stewardship (innovative employee engagement, internal communications, and DEI goals & metrics that differentiate the company)
Goal Setting & Performance Management (system decision, framework decision, input into KPI development and measurement, performance expectations, etc.)
Training & Development (training and learning, career development, leadership development, succession planning)
Compensation (develop and implement compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective and values-aligned)
Recognition (identify and establish levers to recognize employees in a variety of ways)
Employee Relations (promptly respond to employee concerns and lead management response to HR issues)
Determine appropriate systems and processes to support the HR strategy and plans, leveraging a data-driven and efficiency lens
Maintain company policies (e.g. employee handbook, travel & entertainment policy, paid time off policy) that reward performance & comply with local, state & federal requirements
Build and maintain an annual HR Budget
Build a lean HR function over time and manage, inspire, and develop the HR team to deliver excellent results and grow their impact
Professional Qualifications
Demonstrated human resources management experience in a fast-growing organization
Experience assembling high performing teams with inclusive team culture
Ability to shift between strategic and hands on work
Agile, flexible, and fast fail mindset well suited for a fast-moving and dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to listen, accept feedback from and collaborate with leaders, employees, and stakeholders
Familiarity with compensation plans appropriate for private investor-backed business
Working knowledge of HR-related software and systems (HRIS, ATS, perf management)
BA or equivalent degree preferred
SHRM certification preferred
