Job description

We're on the hunt for a dynamic Head of Business Development to spearhead our client's growth in the renewable energy sector. This role involves steering project origination through innovative networking and market strategies to surpass annual and long-term targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead lead and opportunity generation through independent business networking and market penetration initiatives.

  • Manage a robust pipeline to achieve or surpass set origination targets.

  • Navigate and anticipate market trends within Japan, particularly in C&I/utility-scale projects, aiding in strategic planning and business model adjustments.

  • Oversee projects from inception to completion, collaborating with multifunctional teams across legal, financial, technical, and operational domains.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a network of contractors, clients, consultants, and other key stakeholders.

  • Undertake comprehensive project management including financial and technical analysis, contract negotiation, and overseeing the permitting and construction phases.

  • Keep abreast of market drivers, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure a competitive edge.

  • Assist in the strategic and operational management of the Business Development Department, including direct oversight of specific projects and team members.

  • Implement and monitor the Annual Operation Plan, addressing any deviations promptly.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in project management, energy project development, or related fields.

  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy project investment, including market dynamics, financial modeling, and project management.

  • A proven track record of developing and closing large transactions, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in transaction structuring, negotiation, and closure, including acquisitions and development agreements.

  • Outstanding communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Willingness to travel across Japan as needed.
