What’s the scope of the role?

As Head of Procurement, you will be the lead role in the business for Industrial Procurement. This position is responsible for ensuring optimal and coordinated procurement strategies are developed by the Principal Procurement Managers across all the technologies.

The Head of Procurement owns the procurement processes and the governance of the process including supplier relationship management. They are a key resource manager in the business and must ensure that sufficient and appropriate procurement and commercial management resource is allocated to each business unit. Stakeholder management across the group the supply chain and the organisation will be an essential requirement of the role.

What you’ll be doing day to day.

  • Own the Procurement Process in which business growth procurement is delivered.

  • Procurement governance and compliance.

  • Alignment with the Operational Procurement team to maximise synergies, avoid duplication, and deliver optimised supply and maintain solutions.

  • Ensure adequate resourcing plan for procurement and commercial resource to support Business Functions.

  • Design and implementation of a Strategic Procurement Framework and Market Intelligence Distribution.

  • Strong collaboration with Principal Procurement Managers to ensure adequate and coordinated performance in business units.

  • Maintain strong connections with the procurement department in other regions to ensure alignment and capturing best practice.

  • Being part of the CTO Leadership team ensuring that procurement practices and processes are being highlighted

  • Represent the organisation in external meetings, industry bodies, tradeshows and conventions.

What do you need to be great at this role?

You will need a minimum of 10 years of experience in Procurement and 5 years in a procurement / commercial leadership position in addition to:

  • Experience of establishing and managing efficient Framework Contracts

  • Experience of conducting market intelligence studies.

  • Proven experience of effective supplier relationship management.

  • Proven ability to conduct successful commercial negotiations with suppliers.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of procurement and contract management and a proven track record in large project environments.

  • Experience in commercial administration of development and construction contracts and cost management.

  • Knowledge or SAP ERP or similar is desirable.

  • Knowledge and experience of EU procurement regulations would be an advantage.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Possessing or working towards RICS membership would be advantageous.

  • Excellent at building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders, suppliers and reporting line.

  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills.

  • Able to lead and coordinate an ad-hoc team for a specific achievement.

  • Good command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.).

  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires.
