Job description

Title: Head of PPA Origination

Location: Sweden (Remote)

My client is an international energy company, and we are determined to solve some of the hardest challenges that stand in the way of the green transition by leveraging new technology and pioneering software development. They develop and optimize flexible energy assets such as large-scale battery energy storage to store electricity when there is a production surplus and return it to the system when there is a shortage. This ensures the stability of the grid, increases the uptake of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, and maximizes the utilization of the grid in a cost-efficient manner. Today, my client is in a rapid growth phase with a historic expansion of energy storage in the Nordic region, while also expanding internationally. We currently have approximately 200 MW under construction, over 200 MW entering the construction phase, and a total development pipeline of over 7 GW across Europe.

About the role

As Head of Origination, we are looking for a highly driven professional to play an important role in my client’s growth in Europe.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the Energy Portfolio function, including recruiting the team over time

  • Lead the origination of capacity contracts with public and private counterparties in target markets

  • Structure and negotiate bankable contracts, taking into consideration the characteristics of underlying physical assets and asset portfolios

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, counterparties, and off-takers in target markets

  • Work closely with the Energy trading team in building and assessing revenue strategies on an ongoing basis

  • Work closely with the Strategy and Development teams when entering new projects and markets to support investment decisions

  • Lead an analytical approach in assessing risk-adjusted return profiles of various revenue strategies

To continue to grow, we need a diverse, inclusive, and authentic team that is passionate about our mission towards fossil-free energy sources. So, if you're as passionate about our mission as we are, but your experience doesn't quite fit the job advert, we strongly encourage you to apply anyway. You could be just the right candidate, either for this role or for another upcoming role in our fast-growing business.

Your work experience and skills include:

  • 10+ years of working experience within energy trading, energy portfolio management, and/or origination and structuring of complex energy sales agreements (e.g., PPAs, CFDs)

  • Proven track record of efficiently leading teams in Europe

  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written

  • University degree in a relevant field, such as finance, business, engineering management, or similar
