Client
My client are a privately owned investment Group with a successful track record of investment activities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Key Responsibilities Include:
support on all European projects (mainly but not limited to UK)
to act as project manager ‘Owner’s engineer’ for the delivery of transmission connections
to update owner’s requirements for EHV/HV/MV substations, protection and control, cables
undertake any power system studies in-house and to coordinate any that are outsourced
oversee the EHV/HV interconnection processes from project feasibility to construction/ commissioning stage and ensure that all grid code requirements are incorporated in the technical design stages
shall supervise the interconnection build processes during all project development phases and to ensure all the factors influencing and influenced by grid connections are considered
to coordinate interconnection design activities of advanced projects internally within project development, commercial engineering, plant engineering and grid teams
to liaise and manage the technical design process with ICPs, design contractors and EPCs
where possible to review the HV/MV interconnection designs to ensure that ICP/EPC design interface is fully aligned and collaborative
to ensure the timely approval of technical design and equipment from TSO/DSO, and that all technical requirements of TSO/DSO have been incorporated in the final design
to ensure that the interconnection delivery programme is aligned with EPC, DNO/TSO and the development timeline
to perform technical-due-diligence, quality assurance checks and risk assessment on the designs produced by ICPs/EPCs, Technical Advisors, Consultants and/or Co-developers
to attend/chair design review meetings, Hazard review meetings and project review meetings
to support procurement team with preparation of ICP/EPC tenders, technical specifications, scoping documents and technical information packs at all stages of the tender process
to review the ICP/EPC bids technically/ commercially
to attend bid clarification and review meetings with ICPs/EPCs
to maintain good relationship with ICPs, EPCs, HV Contractors, Technical advisors and Consultants
to develop basic designs for the interconnection of the PV/BESS plant projects
to maintain good relationship with DNO/TSO technical teams, project managers and technical standard teams
to negotiate and develop grid connections design that reduce installation time and cost whilst maintaining or improving plant.
to support construction team and project managers on technical questions and preparation of technical documents in relation to interconnection
to support the operation and maintenance of the plants by providing grid expertise to the Asset Management and O&M team managers’
responsible for the updating and optimization of trackers and profiles to support team activities
provide assistance in sourcing new connection opportunities, particularly on transmission
Develop and maintain key processes
Support the wider grid team where necessary
Qualifications / Skills Sought:
Degree educated in Engineering or other relevant field
Experience working in a similar, technical role within a renewable energy developer or consultancy
In-depth understanding of the UK grid application process for utility scale solar PV and battery developments
Experience working in European markets considered highly advantageous
Understanding of the compliance and constraints management process for renewable energy developments
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage internal and external counterparties
Ability to work with autonomy as well as part of a team
