THE OPPORTUNITY:

Fantastic opportunity to lead the fund raising and investment strategy for a global energy IPP as they target European asset expansion. 

The company have over 2GW solar PV in development globally and are looking for an entrepreniural professional who can originate and execute solar opportunities across Europe - with target markets including Italy, Spain, Portugal, France amongst others. 

The Group Funding and Investment leader will contribute to the overall success of the organization by actively raising finance to support projects and by effectively managing the corporate funding and investment requirements for the organization more broadly.

THE ROLE:

The key strategic hire will be responsible for corporate liquidity, funding of our in-house under development and developed projects as well support in M&A activities with third parties.  The candidate shall also possess the capacity to apply risk management best practices to the company's financial activities.

Main responsibilities in the role:

  • Assume full responsibility for the financing needs, including capital raising, financial modelling and deal-making to support the organizations growth strategy across international markets.

  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.

  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for projects.

  • Advise management on the liquidity aspects of its short- and long-term planning.

  • Use hedging mechanisms to mitigate financial risks related to the interest rates on the company's borrowings and revenues, as well as on its foreign exchange positions.

  • Develop and maintain international and local banking relationships and negotiate with Banks for lines of credit or other financial instruments as required and appropriate.

  • Develop cost effective and innovative funding programs for both under development and development and investment.

  • Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements, reports, models etc. are prepared timely in accordance with contract agreements with funders and other stakeholders.

  • Identify co-investors for Project development and acquisition.

  • Generate and maintain credit rating agency relationships.

  • Maintain a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over treasury activities.

  • Invest funds judiciously.

  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.

  • Advise the organization's leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the organization.

  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.

  • Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports.

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects.

  • Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure that program and organizational risks are minimized.

THE INDIVIDUAL:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and track record in successfully raising and closing financing for energy projects, preferably solar PV

  • Minimum 10 years of executive experience in corporate finance and/or banking in the infrastructure sector 

  • Network of relationships with institutional investors in the energy sector, preferably in renewable energy

  • Experience in closing project financing with DFI would be considered as a plus, in particular in emerging markets

  • Collaborative, committed and accountable for delivery

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Calm under pressure, with good judgment, and anticipation of requirements under your areas of responsibility.

  • Energetic person with strong business acumen

  • Third level qualification in Business or Finance

  • Fluency in written and verbal English
