Field Service Engineer

Field Service Engineer looking to help the growing solar industry to higher standards of quality, and reliability while fighting climate change.

  • Location: Remote

  • Full Time

This is a solar and energy storage technical advisory services and software company. Our mission is to ensure that solar and storage assets fulfill their promise as responsible and reliable energy sources beyond our generation.

Led by a world-class team of renewable energy veterans with international experience that previously led and managed technical teams at Clean Energy Associates, SunEdison, EDF Renewables, and Hanwha Q CELLS among others.

Requirements:

  • A Field Service Engineer with field experience in construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC). Knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performing electrical tests (Isc, Voc, insulation resistance, IV Curve tracing, thermal imaging…). Ideally, with experience working in Utility, Commercial and Industrial projects

  • Someone obsessed with safety, quality, and reliability that takes a long-term view approach to their work to help reduce future solar and storage system risks

  • A learner, and a detailed oriented person, willing to wear different hats, that is super passionate about solar power and energy storage

  • A forward-thinking person excited to use and contribute to SolarGrade, building software technology to solve industry problems

  • A creative team player that is excited by the opportunity to grow with the team and support the largest customers in the renewables space

  • Entrepreneurial thinker who can make decisions in a resource-limited environment and understand the benefits and trade-offs of the many different solutions available for a given problem.

 

Immediate Initiatives

  • Perform third-party solar and storage system inspections including testing (IV tracing, thermal imaging, insulation resistance, continuity...) focused on safety, quality, and reliability. Typical scopes would be:

    • Health assessment: operational systems

    • Third-party construction QA/QC

    • Third-party commissioning oversight/verification

    • End-of-warranty inspection

    • Root cause analysis

    • Emergency response and investigation

Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant solar and/or energy storage experience

  • Preferred solar field experience: construction management, QA/QC, commissioning, operations, and maintenance

  • 1+ year of experience performing system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performing electrical tests (Isc, Voc, insulation resistance, IV Curve tracing, thermal imaging…)

  • Ability to use fieldwork software technology tools and navigate numerous computer applications and technology independently

  • Highly valuable to have OSHA 30 and NFPA 70e certifications

·         Ability to work at great heights, work in extreme environments, lift at least 50 pounds

·         Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable and safe driving record 

·         Ability to travel 50% of the time or more nationally

  • Report writing, where required, to comply with deliverables
