Job description

The Green Recruitment Company are working with a client who are driving the transformation of the energy sector around the world, allowing customers to use technology to transform energy into new opportunities for growth and progress. 

 

The Client:

The client offers a spectrum of advisory services: helping customers navigate complex competitive energy supply markets through to implementing decarbonisation roadmaps and renewable energy projects. The client works with customers to design a holistic strategy encompassing energy reporting, energy supply and energy management programmes and to actively track and evaluate the performance of that strategy over time.

 

The Role:

The Energy Advisor will work with numerous internal teams and external stakeholders and will have a broad understanding of both supply and demand side considerations. The Energy Advisor will play an active role in account management and the business development process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise the client on energy supply management strategies and implement compliance reporting programmes, commodity risk policy, active risk management and renewable purchasing programmes.
  • Provide insight and market intelligence to customers in the form of reports, meetings and presentations with support of regional risk management teams and sourcing experts
  • Understand and educate customers on industry trends, competitive landscape, energy market trends and regulatory changes
  • Drive the strategic energy sourcing workflow: Pre-Qualification, RFP generation, supplier communications, RFP bid analysis and contract/trigger/renewal deal generation
  • Oversee a customer’s energy budget production including analysis of commodity prices, site consumption and non-commodity charges
  • Advise clients on the implementation of renewable energy roadmaps and zero carbon roadmaps
  • Advise clients on the implementation of renewable purchasing strategies including power purchase agreements
  • Drive customer engagement with energy management software including utility bill management and energy supply management software

 

The Individual:  

  • Excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, experience with database queries and cost modelling
  • Budgeting, forecasting and price structuring
  • Preferred working knowledge of natural gas and electricity markets
  • Preferred ability to read tariffs and recreate electric and natural gas utility costs
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in a corporate setting preferably in the natural gas or power industry

  • IT and programming skills that will improve existing spreadsheet-based models
  • Problem solving: an ability to think things through with incomplete data
  • Analytical: ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; understanding the client needs whilst focusing on the company’s goals
  • Ability to work with & communicate data, both internally and externally at all levels using available analytical tools
