Electrical Engineer

Location: United Kingdom

Salary: DOE

TGRC is working with a leading non-utility developer and renewable energy generator who are looking for an Electrical engineer to join their team.

In this role the Electrical Engineer will be acting as a Technical Expert for wind turbine, and balance of plant electrical systems for over 2.8GW of wind power plant located across Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish compliance with grid connection agreements acting as liaison for all TNO and DNO technical enquiries and utilising specialist consultants as necessary.

  • Work with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) management to ensure the highest level of safety across the portfolio ensuring all applicable industry standards and guidelines are adhered with.

  • Safeguard asset value by aiding the Engineering Life Extension strategy, and managing critical electrical spares obsolesce.

  • Lead root cause of failure investigations for wind turbine and electrical balance of plant component failures, working with the relevant subcontractors to deliver clear recommendations and remedial actions required to ensure safe operations.

  • Guarantee asset configuration control by conducting and assessing Engineering Change Requests and presenting to Senior Management for approval.

  • Manage, with support from external service providers, the construction of any new assets, overpowering or repowering projects.

  • Aid in the further development of the business spare parts strategy. Operating with the Commercial and Procurement Manager with the identification and sourcing of substitution parts and any associated tender processes and contract negotiations as needed.

  • Infrequent UK and European travel to attend to sites.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with demonstrable experience in the field of Electrical Engineering.

  • Proven Project Management experience of delivering numerous technical projects at once on time and within budget.

  • A proven track record of completing Root Cause Analysis as well as experience of Electrical Inspection and testing techniques.

  • Experience of High Voltage operations up to 33kV.

  • Understanding and demonstrable experience of working with SCADA systems and communication protocols common to the Wind and Power Generation industries.

  • A proven track record of working with operational Wind Power Plant including LV and HV subcomponents and balance of plant electrical infrastructure.

  • Understanding and demonstrable experience of working with SCADA systems and communication protocols common to the Wind and Power Generation industries.

  • Knowledge of grid connection agreements.

  • Chartership with the IET or working towards it (desirable).

  • HV operational switching (desirable).
