The Opportunity

A leading community-scale, clean energy developer is looking for a Director of Operations to join their dynamic team. You would report to the CEO and be responsible for building and managing the operations infrastructure. With a growing portfolio across a multitude of technologies, they are determined to support a more resilient electric grid, reduce carbon emissions and deliver savings to New York customers. Backed by one of the largest private investors in renewable energy, they have a goal to develop, build and operate 400 MW of clean energy by 2026.

The Role

  • Oversee all development operations by creating and managing the organizational infrastructure through which projects are developed, constructed and commercialized
  • Map out development project lifecycle processes to track key milestones
  • Create standard procedures, protocols and management systems to support project readiness, continuously improve on processes to elevate best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively implement tools, processes, resources and training for seamless handoff between project lifecycle phases
  • Create an internal system to organize project files
  • Manage third-party vendors and track project invoices/payments
  • Design and develop reporting tools that will be used across the organization and with external parties
  • Facilitate the project/platform budgeting process in collaboration with internal functional teams and executive leadership
  • Support special projects/initiatives (i.e. Vehicle-to-Grid, combined heat & power, micro-hydro, fuel cells, distributed wind)
  • Support internal functional teams and executive leadership on strategic procurement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for improved work processes, enhance quality of service and productivity, and communicate such opportunities to executive leadership
  • Comfortable working in a start-up environment and willing to step up beyond formal roles/responsibilities when “all hands on deck” situations arise

The Person

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in business operations, finance, analytics, operations, consulting, advisory or start-up leadership roles
  • Strong strategic and analytical ability within the context of business decisions
  • Strong knowledge/understanding of business process creation and analysis, change management and other performance improvements
  • Experience with Google and MS Office productivity suites, as well as alternative productivity/collaboration tools
