Job description
TGRC has partnered with a Netherlands-based company that have been operating in the UK since 2008. They provide 100% UK‑sourced renewable electricity and commercial solar solutions to industrial and business customers, helping them meet carbon‑neutral goals.
Our client is currently searching for a Development Manager to deliver the following:
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and evaluate new wind development opportunities across Scotland, England, and Wales
Collaborate with the team to explore extension and repowering options for existing wind sites
Accelerate the development pipeline by assessing and prioritising high-potential projects
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
Form partnerships with external organisations when beneficial to project success
Coordinate with external grid engineers to evaluate grid capacity, costs, and connection timelines; manage grid application processes through to acceptance
Develop tailored stakeholder proposals, incorporating technical and financial analysis
Work closely with internal experts - including asset and project managers - to ensure project readiness for construction and operation
Evaluate commercial and technical feasibility using detailed financial modelling
Lead negotiations on land lease agreements and power purchase agreements (PPAs), with support from legal counsel
Prepare and oversee project documentation and navigate internal investment approval process up to final investment decision (FID)
Contribute to defining commercial strategies, including participation in Contracts for Difference (CfD) schemes
Manage financial responsibilities for individual projects ranging from £25 million to £150 million in capital investment, and £1 million to £5 million in development expenditure
Simultaneously manage 3 to 4 projects at varying stages of development and maturity
Requirements:
Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience), ideally in a numerical, business, scientific, or engineering-related field
Approximately 4–5 years of experience in the asset sector, with a strong preference for UK renewable energy industry exposure
Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset and proactive approach
Willing and able to travel regularly to project sites
Confident in building and sustaining strong relationships with landowners, clients, and key stakeholders
Broad experience in asset development, including project and budget management
Skilled in evaluating opportunities based on grid capacity, with further assessment of planning, commercial, and land-related factors
Conduct on-site visits to assess project feasibility, considering commercial, technical, environmental (EIA), planning, grid, and property aspects
Understanding of wind energy contracting, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, and participation in the CfD auction process
Proven experience in property negotiations, legal contracting, and property law
Familiarity with planning and consenting processes across England, Wales, and Scotland, including engagement with local authorities and key planning institutions
Knowledge of the distribution grid system, including both technical and commercial aspects, as well as hands-on experience with grid applications, offers, and acceptances; ability to liaise with and challenge DNOs when necessary
Technical knowledge of wind resource analysis is advantageous
