Developer Relations Manager – Renewable Energy

We are delighted to be retained by the leading provider of power purchase services, in their search for a new Developer Relations Manager.

 

This business are the industry experts for power purchase agreements across North America and Europe. They help both buyers and sellers of energy to find, and procure power, individual projects or even entire asset portfolios. Typical clients range from renewable energy developers, infrastructure funds, utilities and IPPs.

 

The Developer Relations Manager will support the Senior Manager in leading the team’s engagement with and promotion of services to renewable energy project developers. In this role, the team member will expand the base of credentialed and active developers, ensure that developers are successful, manage a pipeline of prospects for developer-focused products and services, including PPAs, M&A products and market intelligence, and implement new strategies to support the developer-facing side of the market platform.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Success:

  • Expand relationships with renewable energy asset buyers and sellers;
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new developers and asset owners;
  • Demonstrate the value of services to developers and asset owners in order to catalyze robust participation in PPA and asset RFPs, asset sales, & marketplace;
  • Generate leads for asset marketplace that support the Asset Marketplace team’s annual revenue targets;
  • Support developer engagement KPIs, as well as other leading & lagging indicators of developer engagement with the Platform;
  • Foster Platform engagement by presenting transaction opportunities to developers, leading educational demos and webinars, managing ongoing developer communication, and attending conferences (post-COVID) and initiating outbound marketing campaigns;
  • Coordinate project data quality and validation with developers (including implementing incentives to ensure quality, completeness, and freshness);
  • Represent developer and asset owner perspective in software and product design

 

Business Development:

  • Generate leads for asset marketplace that support the Asset Marketplace team’s annual revenue targets;
  • Participate in PPA and M&A team deal execution team through developer coordination;
  • Support PPA and M&A transactions (RFPs and auctions) (including notifying developers, providing updates, won/lost, developer report feedback);
  • Support developer and asset owner focused communications strategy, including PR, social media, events, newsletters, thought leadership pieces, white papers, conferences, etc.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant work experience in the renewable energy industry, either in energy development, origination, or advisory (3 – 5 years of experience);
  • Fluency discussing deregulated wholesale energy market dynamics, Virtual PPAs, corporate renewable energy procurement strategies
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to think quick on their feet and make decisions
  • Experience in project management and account management
  • Ability to travel (post-COVID);
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of internal groups;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • An interest and aptitude in building and fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Initiative and self-motivation to work independently with limited supervision;
