Compliance Officer

Job description

​We are seeking a Compliance & Governance Officer to help ensure the business operates safely, responsibly and in line with legal and regulatory requirements. This role supports the CFO, COO and wider organisation by coordinating compliance, legal administration and governance processes. You won’t be expected to provide legal advice yourself, but you’ll help organise queries, track actions and ensure outcomes are implemented across the company.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Governance Support

  • Act as a central contact for compliance and legal queries from teams

  • Coordinate requests to external legal advisers and track responses

  • Help summarise legal guidance into clear actions for internal teams

  • Support governance activities such as document control, filings and board administration

  • Assist HR with policy updates and employment documentation processes

Contracts & Commercial Administration

  • Maintain contract records, templates and approval workflows

  • Support the coordination of contract reviews with legal advisers

  • Track key obligations, renewal dates and approvals

  • Provide basic checks on contract consistency and flag potential risks

Compliance & Risk Support

  • Assist with maintaining company compliance policies and registers

  • Support monitoring of regulatory updates and internal actions

  • Help prepare information for audits, accreditations and compliance reviews

  • Assist with onboarding checks and governance documentation

Health & Safety Coordination

  • Help maintain H&S policies, training records and documentation

  • Support audits, reporting and improvement actions

  • Assist teams in understanding their responsibilities

Data Protection Support

  • Help maintain GDPR documentation and records

  • Assist with subject access requests and data queries

  • Support updates to policies and contract clauses where required

Training & Awareness

  • Support the rollout of compliance, H&S and data protection training

  • Help maintain guidance materials and internal communications

Experience & Requirements

Essential

  • Some experience in compliance, governance, legal administration, audit, or risk support roles

  • Strong organisational and documentation skills

  • Comfortable coordinating tasks across different teams

  • Good written communication and attention to detail

  • Willingness to learn about regulation, governance and risk management

Desirable

  • Exposure to regulated industries

  • Experience supporting audits or policy updates

  • Familiarity with GDPR or basic compliance frameworks
