Job description

The Installation & Commissioning Manager will be responsible for the development of Energy Storage System (ESS) installation and commissioning processes, procedures/work instructions, plans, and coordination with field personnel and third-party suppliers for the Installation & Commissioning (I&C) scope of work related to Battery Energy Storage installations.

This role involves close collaboration with Sourcing and Project Managers to ensure project commissioning requirements are met on time and within budget. The position also requires coordination with Quality & Safety managers to promote and uphold a “safety first” culture during the I&C phase.

The manager will also provide feedback to Quality and Engineering teams regarding field issues, support Root Cause Analysis, and contribute to Corrective Action Plans as part of ongoing Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related discipline with supporting experience demonstrating electrical controls engineering competencies. Extensive industrial experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.

  • Proven experience leading Installation & Commissioning of industrial projects in the Power Generation or Energy sectors.

  • Management experience with technical teams.

  • Familiarity with battery energy storage products and technologies.

Qualifications:
  • Coordinate activities for teams of Field Service Engineers, Technicians, and subcontractors performing installation and commissioning based on customer and project requirements.

  • Create commissioning plans to support new ESS projects within the Americas region.

  • Develop and maintain standard documentation for I&C, including scope of work instructions, training materials, and safety and quality requirements.

  • Select, train, and qualify subcontractors for I&C work in collaboration with the Sourcing Manager.

  • Develop request for quotation (RFQ) packages for I&C subcontractor contracts and work with Sourcing and Legal teams on contract development.

  • Provide feedback from field operations to Quality and Engineering teams to identify trends and implement product improvements.

  • Offer technical support to Field Service Technicians, Engineers, and subcontractors during project execution.

  • Promote a safety-first culture in all I&C processes and activities.

  • Work closely with Quality and Safety Managers to align on safety and compliance standards.
