Job description

THE ROLE:

The Green Recruitment Company represent a consortium of businesses who manage large scale renewable energy projects in the UK. 

 The role will involve commercial contract management and support to the senior management team in the overall procurement process   The successful candidate will need to have a sound knowledge of contract management processes, work to tight deadlines, demonstrate good client interface, and have strong communication skills (both written and verbal).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Management:

  • Responsibility for developing commercial management processes and control measures designed to minimise risk and maximise operational performance of contracts, including performance management systems

  • Resolving commercial issues and disputes, and claims

  • Ownership of overall contract register, managing the contract renewal / review process, produce monthly update and managing the work flow

  • Management and rationalisation of the over 140 contracts which are currently in place

  • Management and interfacing with professional support contracts including accounting, IT, legal and HR

  • Acting as the commercial lead for allocated key contracts within the business.

  • Compliance with Governance and Purchasing procedures

  • Management of lease agreements and contractual obligations to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory provisions

  • Preparing contract schedules of deliverables, obligations calendars, commercial briefing and training sessions to improve commercial expertise and raise awareness in operations

  • Commercially reviewing bids, with particular focus on payment mechanisms, event of default clause, termination thresholds and any schedules with significant Operational risk/impact

  • Assisting in finalising conditions of contract for new work

  • Providing advice and support to aid correct mobilisation of new contracts

  • Providing accurate and timely commercial information

  • Providing support to Operation’s team for more complex negotiations, mitigating penalty deductions and dispute/claim resolutions

  • Preparing and or providing advice on the preparation of variations to contract

  • Establishment of workload targets and deadlines (including the use of KPIs) and maintaining delivery against these

  • Monitor and maintain commercial team performance 

  • Assisting in the review and setting targets on the main service contracts and the application of any pain/gain share mechanisms.

Procurement Management:  

  • Lead the procurement activities.

  • Develop sourcing strategies aligned with company and procurement objectives and conduct procurement programmes to identify suitable suppliers for the business.

  • To provide tactical support for ad hoc purchasing requests and contract related queries

  • Negotiate preferential contract terms with suppliers and mitigate risk for the business and work alongside the in-house legal team to draft contractual language

  • Support management of suppliers’ performance and explore opportunities for continuous improvement within the supply chain to reduce long term costs for the business

  • Ensure compliance with procurement processes and deliver procurement-related training to the business

  • Adhere to company policies on environmental, health, safety and workplace policies

Span of communication

  • Internal: Commercial Team, Wider LAL Team

  • External: Contractors, Suppliers, Service Providers.

 

Role-specific skills

  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple clients, forms of contract and methods of measurement

  • Be able to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention

  • Show experience in managing Engineering Service contracts and in particular the application of payment mechanisms, negotiation and dispute management and value testing

  • Possess strong commercial negotiation skills and experience of managing and leading a team to achieve multiple objectives

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Impeccable drafting and written communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail with accurate and timely outputs

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Application including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
