Green Executives are proud to partner with Vaarst who are looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer for their Bristol Head Office.
Their group focuses on the use of perception, data and autonomy technology to modernise and help further the growth of marine generated renewable energy. They are a VC and institutionally backed subsea technology business with two subsidiaries.
- Vaarst Ltd builds 3D vision systems, and autonomy to collect and analyse data.
- Rovco Ltd puts this to work in the renewable energy and decommissioning industry.
Over the past 5 years the group has seen significant growth. In both 2019 & 2020, they saw growth of over 250%. This growth is forecast to continue and they are expected to reach a total turnover in excess of £25m in 2023 and are expecting to move into profit this year. In 2022 they secured over £20m in a Series B fundraising round.
Currently, they have 102 Staff members and are an accelerated scaleup with an annual growth rate of 75-100%+ since launch.
Currently going through an exciting period of growth, they are looking for a strong CFO to report into the CEO and help drive strategy and financing. This position will be based in Bristol and will suit a candidate with experience of high growth, venture capital backed businesses and perhaps has experience in the energy or technology sectors and a detailed understanding of financing.
Essential Criteria:
A background as a strategically focused, growth based, CFO
Experience of the renewables, oil and gas or tech within offshore energy industries
Extensive capital and debt raising experience as well as a track record with taking a business through Series fundraising
Ability to hold the business to account through reviewing the operational performance and providing strategic guidance as necessary
The ability to participate and challenge the narrative behind the business from a financial angle
The ability to debate core strategy, first mover, high growth winner takes all type business, versus lower risk always in profit type approaches
Scaling experience
Experience of M&A
The ability to provide guidance on the company’s fundraising strategy and participate in the implementation of any fundraising process, ensuring future capital requirements are sufficient to meet the long-term goals and objectives of the business
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of working alongside a founder
Experience outside of working for PE owned businesses
An interest and/or experience in emerging high tech industries
Ability to set up revolving credit facilities with merchant banks
IPO readiness experience
Experience of project orientated business models
Multinational expansion experience, particularly across the US
Business exit experience at board level of taking a VC/PE business through an exit event
