Job description
My client is seeking a talented individual contributor with deep knowledge of interconnection processes along with commercial experience driving successful power generation project development. The role will enhance their greenfield development and M&A efforts by supporting due diligence to identify opportunities for interconnecting solar and storage projects, supporting filing of new interconnection requests, scrutinizing pre-NTP interconnection study results, supporting LGIA negotiation, and supporting post-NTP project execution.
This role requires experience with:
Power generation project development or interconnection facility project construction management experience
Managing large generator interconnection requests through interconnection study processes, negotiating interconnection agreements, and managing interconnection-related milestones during the construction and commissioning phase
Participation in generator interconnection process tariff related stakeholder processes and local, regional, or inter-regional transmission planning processes
Ability to interpret power flow modeling results based on tools commonly used in generator interconnection and transmission planning studies (especially TARA, PSS/E, PowerWorld or similar software package)
Familiarity with geospatial and common grid analysis software tools (ARCGis, Nira, Pearl Street, etc)
Requirements:
Proven interconnection process project management experience to track and manage toward achievement of project milestones
BA/BS degree required; JD OR engineering background, master’s or other advanced degree preferred
5+ years of experience managing interconnection requests and study processes at a large infrastructure developer, an electric utility, transmission provider, or energy consultant, ideally in ERCOT or SERC.
Excellent OATT research and analytical skills
Evidence of ability to build consensus with diverse stakeholders, with a preference for candidates with a strong network of transmission providers
Organized, detail-oriented, and diligent
Self-motivated and driven with a high level of initiative and creative problem solving
Location: Preference for Durham, NC or Washington, DC (open to remote)
