Job description
Manager, Renewable Energy Asset Management is responsible for the management of investment in a renewable energy development platform company and assisting with the management of the current portfolio of projects.
The individual's primary focus will initially be helping to manage the day-to-day oversight of the development platform, including accountability for contract implementation and management, optimization, and coordination with a joint-venture partner. In addition, as development projects are added to our portfolio, this position will have the ability to take on additional responsibilities in helping to manage the commercial and financial aspects of renewable projects.
The position will be based in The Woodlands, TX, and will require, at times, overnight travel to partners, customers, contractors and plant locations. This position reports directly to Executive Vice President.
Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor the operational and financial performance of the renewable energy investments, including new development platform business
Coordinate and communicate with project partners, as well as global Asset Management Team on partnership, operational, financial, and legal matters
Identify and propose improvements in commercial contracts to enhance the value of investments.
Seek to optimize assets within the existing portfolio and support asset development and acquisition opportunities
Lead the day-to-day activities and communications with joint venture partner and renewable energy developer, including management of platform budget compliance
Assess financial and operating risks associated with the power markets and power contracts
Support the development and negotiation of new business ventures/opportunities.
Stay current with trends in the renewable energy sector and U.S. power markets
Support both routine and ad hoc financial reporting requests and recommendations for management on subsidiary financial performances
Minimum Qualifications:
Recent asset management of wind, solar and/or battery storage projects
Experience in the power industry with a solid understanding of the deregulated US power market fundamentals (energy, capacity, and ancillary services) as well as the financial derivative products commonly used in the markets to hedge project revenues
Understanding of finance/accounting/tax functions within a corporate environment
Experience with developing and monitoring budgets
Familiarity with business operations principles
5-10 years of experience, including 5+ years in the power industry
Knowledge of US power markets and electricity trading practices, products and principles are preferable, including negotiating offtake agreements
Understanding of financing, economic and business concepts related to infrastructure, energy (power, oil, gas)
Ability to quickly identify potential risks and think innovatively in rapidly changing environments
Expertise with Excel spreadsheet/modeling skills
