Job Title: Senior Asset Management Associate

I am currently searching for a Senior Asset Management Associate to support an exciting London based investment management firm.

The fund specialise in the renewable energy and clean technology sectors and currently operate more than 30 operational sites across the UK & Ireland.

Managing these investments includes ensuring contractual obligations are met to third parties including lending banks, (encompassing the modelling of ratio compliance, lease obligations, compliance with planning obligations and relating to the sale of the generated electricity) reporting to investment mandates’ portfolio management teams on economic and technical performance, and reacting effectively to ad-hoc matters as and when they arise.

The Asset Management function is also responsible for providing input as to strategic direction decisions and directives and optimising asset performance through each of these phases, as well as acting as a key liaison with both the fund accountants and the deal execution teams

Job Description

SPV Management:

  • Being first point of contact internally and externally on a sub-portfolio of operational project SPVs across multiple renewable asset classes.

  • Overseeing the delivery of high-quality information for all SPV board meetings illustrating, for example, performance, cashflow and working capital analysis.

  • Bank modelling / ratio covenant reporting to lending banks.

  • Where there are development assets, monitoring spend against budget and reporting on progress / success against agreed milestones.

  • Where there are construction assets managing budgets, attending site meetings and holding counterparties to account.

Commercial Contract Negotiation and Execution:

  • Co-ordinating, obtaining quotes for renewal of key contracts such as O&M, site managers, PPAs and senior debt refinancings to present to SPV directors, portfolio managers and IC for approval.

  • On selection of a preferred party, negotiating legal and commercial terms alongside external counsel whilst bringing along JV partners and the lender / the lender’s lawyers to deliver the most optimal outcome for the SPV

  • Managing the interface between all parties adequately to ensure all contracts are entered into on commercial terms acceptable to all and in a timely manner.

  • Obtaining IC, JV partner and lender approval to enter into the contract or arrangement.

Managing Relationships:

  • Co-ordinating and obtaining quotes for renewal of key contracts, ensuring new contracts are put in place on time and with IC approval.

  • First point of contact for all operational matters at the SPVs, including maintenance providers, site managers, landowners, lenders representatives.

  • Managing the delivery and quality of information from the finance function and liaising with portfolio managers to deliver timely and accurate information.

Overseeing Company Administration:

  • Board meeting preparation and preparation of board report packs to enable decisions to be made robustly and efficiently.

  • Overseeing the delivery of statutory filings (audit, annual returns).

Invoicing and payments:

  • Reviewing and approving SPV specific invoices against budgets and working with finance and external counterparties to resolve anomalies.

  • Managing payment and treasury process and liaising with banks where necessary.

Reporting:

  • Preparing operational and financial reports for portfolio managers and investment committees periodically as necessary.

  • Overseeing the preparation of reports for SPV board meetings illustrating performance, cashflow and working capital analysis.

Valuations:

  • Leading on the financial modelling alongside the fund accountants to prepare SPV valuations for fund audits.

Project Optimisation

  • Actively working alongside the investment team on the optimization of the current operational portfolio across the following:

  • Lease and planning extensions and asset life assessments;

  • Investigating co-location with batteries and / or solar; and

  • Repowering of existing sites

  • Working to identify possible areas of opportunity for operational and financial improvements, driving value and mitigating costs for SPVs and client . Provide ad hoc analysis of complex data to identify the causes, patterns and trends in asset performance.

  • Interpreting this analysis to identify possible areas of opportunity for improvement, driving value and mitigating costs.

What You Will Need To Have:

  • You’ll have at least 3-5 years experience in renewables, infrastructure or project finance

  • Ideally you’ve worked in Investment Management or a fund environment

  • You’ll hold an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • You’ll be an excellent financial modeller, have an analytical mindset with the ability to see the big picture
