Job description

​An independent renewable energy producer is seeking a ROCC Manager to oversee daily operations of its 24/7/365 Remote Operations Control & Communications Center. The ROCC Manager will supervise a team of operators responsible for monitoring wind, solar, and battery storage assets across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and schedule ROCC Operators.

  • Monitor and operate renewable energy facilities via SCADA systems.

  • Ensure compliance with NERC, ISO, RTO, and other operational protocols.

  • Respond to grid operator directives and adjust plant control setpoints as needed.

  • Analyze performance data and recommend operational improvements.

  • Maintain and update ROCC operational procedures and training programs.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including site personnel, asset managers, and grid operators.

  • Support remote troubleshooting and substation switching operations.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of real-time generation data and reporting systems.

  • Remain available for operational support, including after-hours calls and escalations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system operations or power production.

  • Proficiency with SCADA systems, Microsoft Office 365, and network/communications tools.

  • Familiarity with NERC compliance requirements and power plant operating procedures.

  • Experience working in a 24/7 operations environment preferred.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and work on a computer.

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending or kneeling.

  • Occasional travel (less than 5%) within the U.S. and Canada may be required.
