Job description
An independent renewable energy producer is seeking a ROCC Manager to oversee daily operations of its 24/7/365 Remote Operations Control & Communications Center. The ROCC Manager will supervise a team of operators responsible for monitoring wind, solar, and battery storage assets across North America.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and schedule ROCC Operators.
Monitor and operate renewable energy facilities via SCADA systems.
Ensure compliance with NERC, ISO, RTO, and other operational protocols.
Respond to grid operator directives and adjust plant control setpoints as needed.
Analyze performance data and recommend operational improvements.
Maintain and update ROCC operational procedures and training programs.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including site personnel, asset managers, and grid operators.
Support remote troubleshooting and substation switching operations.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of real-time generation data and reporting systems.
Remain available for operational support, including after-hours calls and escalations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system operations or power production.
Proficiency with SCADA systems, Microsoft Office 365, and network/communications tools.
Familiarity with NERC compliance requirements and power plant operating procedures.
Experience working in a 24/7 operations environment preferred.
Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and work on a computer.
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending or kneeling.
Occasional travel (less than 5%) within the U.S. and Canada may be required.
