Job Title: Wind Construction Estimator
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Job Description: As a Wind Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of our wind energy projects. Your primary responsibility will be to assess and estimate the costs associated with constructing wind farms, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project budgets. This position requires a meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of construction processes specific to the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for wind energy projects based on engineering plans, specifications, and other relevant documents.
Material and Labor Analysis:
Analyze materials, labor requirements, and equipment needed for construction to develop accurate cost projections.
Bid Preparation:
Collaborate with procurement teams to prepare comprehensive bid packages and solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
Budget Management:
Monitor and control project budgets throughout the estimation and pre-construction phases, identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
Risk Assessment:
Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of cost estimates with project goals and timelines.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and related correspondence for future reference and analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably within the renewable energy sector or large-scale construction projects.
Experience working on Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Estimates
Strong proficiency in cost estimation software and tools (e.g. Bluebeam, Accubid, Heavybid).
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of local regulations and permitting processes related to construction projects in Alberta is an asset.
