​To champion a culture of Process Safety Excellence. Facilitate process risk assessments and help develop safety operating practices to support plant operations. Provide technical leadership and support to identify hazards, assess risks and provide cost efficient management solutions.

• Responsible for ensuring continued compliance across all sites in relation to the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR). Required to liaise and coordinate activities with our insurance partners (Zurich) to ensure new equipment covered by PSSR is inspected & tested as per the Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) requirements.

• Responsible for chairing and/or organising process safety assessments for new projects and/or modifications to existing plants. Assessments include (but not limited to): Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA); Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination; Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) assessments, Hazard & Operability Studies (HAZOP) etc.

• Provide advice and support to operations and projects ensuring proactive and proportionate approach to process safety compliance whilst aiding continuous improvement in productivity and site performance.

• Arrange DOMINO meetings with Health & Safety representatives from neighboring distilleries (upper-tier COMAH sites) to assess impact operational activities have on one another and identify areas for improvement.

• Responsible for performing formal design reviews and deep dive activities on existing systems to identify gaps/areas for improvement.

• Assist site with visits from external regulators (namely the HSE and/or SEPA) and liaise with them on subjects relating to process safety.

• CER preliminary screening working group - challenge quality prior to submission to Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

• Continue to develop system/ implementation of an electronic lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) system across the Company. Audit training on LOTO systems for all personnel following implementation.

• Investigate process safety related incidents/accidents (should they arise).

• Advise site leaders on how to improve safety standards and perform regular audits to ensure all plants are operated within their design parameters during normal operations as well as during start-up/shutdown.

• Coordinate sites emergency exercises and audit emergency response to identify areas for improvement.

• Audit industrial sites on Process Safety Management good practices and relevant regulations (COMAH, LOLER, PUWER, DSEAR, etc.)

• Participate in the review and continuous improvement of the Company Process Safety Management System (PSMS), identifying and closing gaps whenever required and supporting the embedding of the system within the sites.
