We are a behind-the-meter energy solutions company that designs, constructs, and operates medium to large scale facilities at industrial and commercial facilities in Ontario.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Operations Centre Manager is tasked with 7x24 surveillance and maintenance of our fleet of behind-the-meter energy storage and generation facilities. The accountability includes communications network, data acquisition, facility operations, scheduled maintenance, and IESO market operations and optimization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The ideal manager will ensure the overall management of 7x24 facility operations 7 days per week
Perform basic facility support including conducting daily administrative duties, supporting maintenances, perform monitoring of all facility infrastructure
Perform troubleshooting and initial triage of issues
React quickly, efficiently and effectively to alarms received for supported systems
Must be able to monitor logged events, with an eye for developing trends and identifying potential issues
Monitor IESO real time markets, schedule operations of facilities according to market price signals
Monitor weather, and curtailment alerts for coincident peak days (global adjustment)
Schedule charge and discharge of energy storage facilities according to established operating protocols, market signals, and curtailment events with the objective of minimizing coincident peak demand, and input energy costs
Document system problems, escalate and take appropriate actions according to company procedures. Must ensure issues are updated hourly, including sending out notifications to customers and outsource service companies when necessary
Ability to analyze raw data and reports to provide management with a coherent picture of call trends and outage trends.
Handle individual customer's issues via e-mail and telephone communication.
Interface with hoist site customers as required, understand their pattern of daily energy usage, co-ordinate and communicate schedule facility outages or host manufacturing plant outages
Ability to speak to our customers in professional manner to gather additional details of their issue during an outage situation and/or confirm resolution. Also, guide customers through established troubleshooting procedures to identify and resolve their individual issue.
Responsible for developing new, and modifying existing, processes that are required to meet changing business requirements.
Be familiar with incident management procedures, assist in development and refinement of procedures and policies as the business evolves
Act as a “feedback loop” for continuous improvement raising issues that are consistently being brought up with regards to technology or processes.
Make recommendations/suggestions that will help the NOC and other Teams to run the business better; including but not limited to a broader set of accountabilities and identification of new ways to track the business
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Electrical engineering knowledge and experience is a plus.
Understanding of distributed energy resources including energy storage and generation systems and operational strategies is a plus.
Minimum of two years of experience in electric energy markets and/or operation of large-scale energy storage facilities
Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and executes in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality.
Proven excellent ability to use a variety of computer software applications in project management, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
Excellent communication, management, organizational, planning, problem solving skills. Ability to interact professionally and influence positively a diverse group of executives, managers and subject matter experts.
Excellent verbal, visual and writing communication skills in English.
Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record.
