Job Purpose

The lead pricing analyst will need to provide competitive commodity & risk prices to Sales within a tight timeframe: for both Gas and Power, and for Europe. Specific duties/responsibilities:

  • Update the commodity price curves based on the latest market prices & volatility
  • Update the demand profiles in our pricing systems, using inputs from Forecasting
  • Provide bespoke risk premiums, and update the tables of ‘standard’ risk premiums in our systems
  • Provide transparency to management about the level of margin in the commodity & risk premiums, and work with Sales to optimize margin for competitive tenders
  • Support the locking of new business and swaps
  • Support process & systems improvement for the tasks above

You will support management in identifying, prioritising, and planning for pricing projects. You will then take a lead role in the delivery. The scope of the projects includes:

  • Pricing risk identification & quantification
  • Updating assumptions & calibration data for the risk models
  • Support hedging and forecasting strategies

Accountability/Key Responsibilities

Technical skills:

  • numerically competent
  • able to apply maths to calculate commodity/risk prices
  • able to work with IT to update pricing parameters/code in our IT systems
  • able to analyse how existing pricing models in Python/Excel work
