Job description

The Opportunity:

Join a leading UK IPP. They're seeking a Lead Solar Analyst to manage a team of Technical Engineers and Analysts.

The Role:

  • Manage and lead a team of highly technical engineers and data analysts
    • Ensure best practice in team is upheld by all members, for example in the investigation methods
    • Development of team capabilities and services in line with company strategic objectives, continuous and process improvement
    • Support in departmental budget forecasting and management
  • Engage with both internal and external clients to ensure high quality service delivery
    • Collaborate with Software, Asset Management and O&M teams to identify and progress enhancements to services and site performance
    • Supporting business development and tender process for new projects and services
  • Deliver on demanding team workloads with appropriate resourcing and management of customer expectations
    • Ensure SLA contract compliance for high volumes of quality-controlled reports within contract deadlines and budgets
    • Adapt quickly to fast changing market demands and rapid customer portfolio growth with dynamic team and services growth
    • Provide technical and engineering support to operational solar farm management teams
  • Management of Solar Analyst team activities include
    • Line management of Solar Analyst team
      • Staff development and performance management
      • Approving timesheets, expenses and holidays
    • Technical deliverables
      • Manage the delivery of monthly/quarterly/annual intelligence on solar farm performance and behavior
      • Manage the workload and technical content in the team
      • Provide technical support and non-technical guidance to the Analysts
      • Ensure that recommended actions as a result of monitoring and diagnosis are communicated effectively, are solutions-based, cost-effective and are provided in a timely manner

The Individual:

  • Proven experience of in-depth data analysis, preferably on solar farms
  • Experience of continuous improvement and engineering process development
  • Experience in managing an engineering or technical team
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with presenting at conferences and promoting engineering services
  • Degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer or scientist
  • UK driving license
  • Investigative nature– naturally inquisitive, proactive, solution focused and has sense of ownership on work
  • Ability to manage several projects and high workloads with demanding timescales
  • Ability to guide a team, influencing decisions and reacting positively to challenges
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between internal and external stakeholders
  • Data mining and programming in languages such as SQL and Python
