Job description

​​The Green Recruitment Company are working alongside Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy.

As part of the Trading & Origination department, the South European Origination team concludes non-standard, structured and often complex transactions in wholesale energy markets in Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy. Thereby, it cooperates closely with trading desks and the other regional Origination teams to offer pan-European tailored energy solutions. The responsibilities within Southern European Origination are divided into Origination Iberia, Origination France/Italy, Portfolio Management and the newly established unit Quant and Structuring.

 

The Role:

The Southern European Origination team has been a first mover on long-term PPAs in Spain and Italy with more than 50 wind and solar PPAs contracted. In addition, the portfolio consists of tailor-made long-term agreements with IPPs/generators and large end customers as well as other non-standard flexible and structured wholesale products. In addition, Southern European Origination is running a PPA business in France and holds a sizeable route-to-market renewables portfolios in that market. The business is planning to significantly grow its business in regional and product scope over the next years.  

You will be located in the Düsseldorf office and head the newly installed Quant Modelling & Structuring team, one of the four pillars of the Southern European Origination Front Office. The team will consist of two additional highly professional and driven FTEs. You will report directly to the VP Origination Southern Europe and be part of the management team.

Your activities will include:  

  • Drive the development of a cutting-edge stochastic long-term price and volume scenario engine for power, CO2 and gas prices as well as its calibration to fit market specifics in the relevant markets.  

  • Continuous improvement of pricing and optimization tools as well as development of ad-hoc pricing approaches for structured power and cross-commodity products such as renewable PPAs, structured power supply solutions, VPPs, storage, swings, etc. 

  • Drive the continued development of a scalable, flexible, and extendible platform solution for portfolio management. 

  • Manage, develop, and grow a highly professional and talented team of quantitative analysts and structurers. 

  • Collaborate closely with and be the main interface to digitalisation team including the Product Owner Portfolio Management Platform, other front office quants, internal developers, the IT department and the quantitative risk modelling team on infrastructure topics, data management and stochastic modelling 

 

Your profile: 

  • Minimum 10 years of professional work experience in energy markets, previous relevant experience in quantitative modelling of European power.

  • Proven track record in the modelling and pricing of renewable PPAs and other structured, non-standard energy products.  

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills; state-of-the art know-how in stochastic modelling of energy commodities and modelling of renewable energy.

  • Strong quant development and programming skills. Extensive knowledge of Python is essential with ideally experience in quantitative packages. Other Languages (R, Java, C#) are an advantage. 

  • In depth understanding of European power markets, power trading and risk management. 

  • Previous management experience and skills are essential - ability to lead, develop and motivate.   

  • Reliable team player with excellent communication skills in English; Spanish, Italian or French would be an advantage.
