Grid Connection Manager – Renewable Energy

The Client

My client is a leader in the development and delivery of high-quality large-scale turnkey renewable plants. They are seeking a Grid Connection Manager to join their fast growing UK team.

 

The Role

  • Identification of potential electrical substations - where there could be capacity to connect for solar and wind projects;
  • Analysis of Grid Code and information of the items who impact in the Power Plant design and in the Interconnection Station and Transmission Line;
  • Analysis of received technical information for a specific project that impacts the Grid Connection design of the project;
  • Coordinate the grid connection permitting process with the Development team;
  • Coordinate subcontractors during design and execution of projects in cooperation with the on-site team
  • Ability to calculate the values, and create single line diagrams of an Electrical Network;
  • Evaluation of Grid Impact studies in a steady state, dynamic and in transient state of all electrical parameters, performed internally or by third parties;
  • Dynamic models in wind and PV Inverters in simulations to a model power flow/stability and frequency response;
  • Study of alternative engineering solutions for project optimization;
  • Provide technical support on Executive Design (on the power systems area);
  • Provide technical support during construction;
  • Knowledge on security systems and devices.

 

The Profile:

  • Master’s degree or Degree in Electrical Engineering - Specialization in Energy Systems or Automation Systems (mandatory);
  • At least 5 years of experience in this field;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the grid functioning and planning is Spain;
  • Currently or previously having worked for National Grid or another UK DNO;
  • Good local network with grid operators;
  • MS Office, AutoCAD, DigSilent, PSSE (or similar) and Electrical Engineering software domain;
  • Fluent in English language;
  • Open to international travel
