Job description
We're seeking a Principal Electrical/EC&I Engineer to take a leading technical role in delivering cutting-edge green hydrogen infrastructure projects. You'll act as the technical authority across all electrical, control, and instrumentation design, playing a critical part in the UK's energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
Technical lead for electrical, control & instrumentation design
Manage grid connection processes & DNO compliance
Produce concept designs, specifications, and scopes of work
Ensure compliance with ATEX, functional safety, and QA standards
Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and site inspections
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle
Your Experience
10+ years in heavy industry electrical engineering
Strong HV/LV design expertise (33 kV+), switchgear, protection systems
ATEX, Ex Zones, and functional safety knowledge (TUV FSE preferred)
Power systems modelling (ETAP preferred), earthing & protection studies
Control system integration (DCS, PLC, BPCS)
Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership
Nice to Have
Experience in electrolyser or green hydrogen design
Project development & DNO engagement
COMPEX, HV certified, commissioning experience
