The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategically-minded Digital Programme Manager to lead the design and implementation of a digital ecosystem that enhances the company’s hydrogen production and sales operations.

This role is instrumental in advancing the digital transformation agenda by integrating isolated legacy systems, deploying new digital tools, and ensuring full compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will combine technical acumen with excellent programme management skills and a strong grasp of emerging digital technologies.

Key Integration Areas

The programme will focus on integrating:

  1. Microsoft Dynamics CRM

  2. A custom web-based production planning tool

  3. Carbon, pricing, and scheduling data from electricity providers

  4. Data from hydrogen production plant PLCs

  5. Logistics partner transport management systems (TMS)

  6. Invoicing and financial processes through Microsoft Dynamics

Core Objectives:

  • Ensure compliance with UK regulatory and pricing mechanisms, including the Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard (LCHS) and Road Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO)

  • Optimise production costs based on renewable energy availability and wholesale energy pricing

  • Streamline and automate sales and data management processes

Role Overview

Reporting to the Technical Director, this is a highly autonomous role that will interact with senior stakeholders across the business. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and drive forward a multi-stakeholder, technically complex programme from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and own the digital transformation roadmap

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory reporting and environmental standards

  • Collaborate with internal teams to define requirements and deliver tailored digital solutions

  • Plan and deliver digital projects within scope, budget, and timelines

  • Select and manage external contractors and digital service providers

  • Identify and mitigate risks while establishing contingency plans

  • Report on progress, KPIs, and programme performance to senior leadership

  • Employ best-practice methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid) tailored to project needs

  • Oversee dependencies between concurrent projects and broader business initiatives

  • Promote continuous improvement and drive innovation

  • Ensure digital solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and user-centric

Candidate Profile
  • Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)

  • Strong background in digital programme and project delivery

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex digital projects across platforms

  • Proven ability to deliver CRM/ERP integrations, web applications, or trading/monitoring platforms

  • Versatile in Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Sound financial and budgeting capabilities

  • Effective multitasking and problem-solving abilities under pressure

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project)

  • Experience integrating diverse systems and technologies

  • Knowledge of Python is a plus

  • Familiarity with UK low-carbon certification schemes (LCHS, RTFC) is advantageous
