Job description

We are now seeking an Assistant Accountant. The role will be based in North Sydney and you will report to the Financial Controller

You will be primarily responsible for supporting the accounting and finance needs of the company. 

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Analyse financial information
  • Record the financial transactions of a business in bookkeeping software (xero)
  • Coordinate with management and staff to prepare budgets
  • Resolve account payable and receivable issues or queries
  • Accurately perform daily reconciliations of cash, check and credit card transactions
  • Comply with Australian Accounting Standards Board for financial statements
  • Assist in financial and tax audits, and general ledger preparation
  • Develop monthly financial statements that include cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets
  • Complete end of month close procedures
  • Assist in preparing FBT and BAS returns with external tax professionals

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related
  • Be studying towards CA / CPA
  • Driven to succeed individually and as a business
  • Highly proficient with Excel
  • Exceptional communication both written and spoken
  • Be passionate, positive and an excellent team player
  • Experience with ERP’s and cloud accounting software such as Xero
  • 3-5 years of commercial or accounting practice
  • Experience in Australian energy business highly desirable
  • Strong time management and priority setting skills.
