WTG Damper Engineer
Job description
We are looking for an experienced Damper Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of vibration mitigation systems used in modern wind turbines. This role will focus on the engineering and optimization of tuned mass damper solutions that enhance tower stability, reduce structural loads, and improve overall turbine performance and reliability.
Working closely with engineering, sourcing, quality, testing, and manufacturing teams, you will drive damper development activities throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and simulation through validation and implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of tower structural damping solutions, including tuned mass damper (TMD) systems for wind turbine applications.
Perform structural dynamics assessments to evaluate tower vibration behavior, load mitigation performance, and dynamic response under operational and environmental conditions.
Develop and optimize damper concepts using analytical calculations, simulation tools, and validation data.
Conduct multi-body dynamics studies and numerical analyses to understand system interactions and vibration control effectiveness.
Create and maintain 3D designs, assemblies, and engineering documentation using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Utilize Ansys Workbench and Ansys Fluent
to perform simulation and validation activities supporting damper and structural system development.
Work cross-functionally with design, testing, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure robust and manufacturable product solutions.
Support supplier qualification and technical approval processes for damper-related components and assemblies.
Act as the primary engineering interface for supplier technical discussions, RFIs, deviation management, and implementation of engineering changes.
Analyze validation and operational performance data using MATLAB and Python
to assess damper effectiveness and identify opportunities for optimization.
Support root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives related to structural vibration and damper system performance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related disciplines.
Minimum 3 years of experience in structural dynamics, vibration control, or wind turbine component engineering.
Strong expertise in tuned mass damper (TMD)design, vibration mitigation technologies, and structural dynamic behavior.
Proven experience developing damping solutions for wind turbine towers, large rotating machinery, civil structures, or comparable applications.
Hands-on experience with: Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Ansys Fluent, MATLAB, Python.
Strong understanding of wind turbine structural systems, product development processes, and manufacturing considerations.
Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product development cycle.
Native Mandarin speaker with professional English communication skills.
