Senior Testing & Commissioning Manager – BESS & PCS Specialist

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Family Status available)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced BESS & PCS Specialist to lead the commissioning and grid integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems across utility-scale renewable and hybrid power plants.

You will take ownership of the commissioning and performance validation of battery systems, PCS, EMS, BMS, safety systems, and auxiliary equipment, ensuring safe operation and full compliance with contractual and grid requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Review BESS engineering designs, OEM documentation, and commissioning procedures

  • Lead pre-commissioning and energization of battery racks, PCS, MV/LV stations, HVAC, and auxiliary systems

  • Configure and validate SOC limits, charge/discharge limits, and protection settings

  • Coordinate commissioning activities with EMS, PPC, SCADA, and substation teams

  • Execute functional tests including grid-forming and grid-following modes

  • Support black start and islanded operation tests where required

  • Diagnose PCS synchronization failures, EMS mismatches, battery derating, and communication issues

  • Lead troubleshooting with OEMs and EPC teams

About You

  • 10+ years of experience commissioning BESS or hybrid renewable plants

  • Strong understanding of Li-ion battery technologies and degradation mechanisms

  • Expertise in PCS systems, EMS integration, and plant-level controls

  • Experience with grid ancillary services and hybrid plant dynamics

  • OEM commissioning experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Power, or Energy Engineering

  • Battery safety and fire systems training advantageous
