Senior Energy Resource and Performance Engineer
Job description
We are partnering with a leading utility-scale renewable energy developer seeking a Senior Energy Resource & Performance Engineer to join their growing engineering team.
This position will play a critical role in supporting project development, financing, and technical decision-making through advanced solar resource assessment, energy yield analysis, and performance modeling.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead energy yield assessments for utility-scale solar projects
• Develop 12x24 and 8760 production profiles
• Perform detailed statistical analysis of resource and performance data
• Evaluate technical assumptions, losses, and uncertainty factors
• Analyze project performance impacts related to module selection, GCR, bifacial design, and other key inputs
• Interpret MET station and public resource datasets
• Conduct measured-versus-modeled performance evaluations and technical investigations
• Review third-party energy assessments and technical studies
• Collaborate with Development, Finance, and Engineering teams on project valuation and investment decisions
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical best practices across the organization
• Support EPC commissioning and acceptance testing activities as required
Qualifications:
• 6–10 years of experience in renewable energy resource assessment, performance engineering, or energy analysis
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Meteorology, Physics, or related discipline
• Advanced PVsyst experience
• Experience working with Vaisala, SolarGIS, and/or SolarAnywhere datasets
• Strong understanding of utility-scale solar project design, losses, and uncertainty methodologies
• Experience performing QA/QC on resource data and energy models
• Proven ability to evaluate measured versus modeled plant performance
• Advanced Excel skills and Python experience preferred
• Familiarity with SAM, Power BI, or similar analytical/visualization tools
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
