Project Developer

Location: Sandton, South Africa (full time in office)

TGRC is partnering with a leading renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP) to recruit a Project Developer to support the development of utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This role will focus primarily on permitting and project development, ensuring projects successfully navigate the regulatory and environmental approval processes required to progress through the development pipeline. Working alongside engineering, environmental, legal and commercial teams, you will play a key role in taking projects from early-stage development through to ready-to-build.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the permitting and regulatory approval process for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects.

• Coordinate environmental, planning and statutory approvals required throughout the project development lifecycle.

• Liaise with government authorities, municipalities, regulatory bodies, environmental consultants and other key stakeholders.

• Support land acquisition and project due diligence activities where required.

• Monitor project milestones and ensure permitting activities are delivered within programme timelines.

• Coordinate technical studies, environmental assessments and specialist consultant inputs.

• Work closely with engineering, commercial, legal and grid teams to progress projects through development.

• Identify permitting risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise project delays.

• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 3–4 years' experience in renewable energy project development.

• Experience working on utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects.

• Strong understanding of permitting, environmental approvals and regulatory processes.

• Experience coordinating with government authorities, municipalities and external consultants.

• Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
