Environment, Health and Safety Manager

Job description

​Are you an experienced Safety Officer with a passion for maintaining the highest health and safety standards on construction and electrical projects? We are seeking a proactive and suitably qualified professional to join a dynamic project team operating within the energy and infrastructure sector in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, monitor, and maintain project health and safety systems in line with South African legislation and industry best practices.

  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) and ensure appropriate control measures are in place.

  • Support compliance with the Construction Regulations, 2014.

  • Perform site inspections, audits, and safety monitoring activities.

  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all project stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate health and safety records and reporting documentation.

Minimum Requirements
  • Registered with SACPCMP in an appropriate category for Health and Safety Officer appointments.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Health and Safety Officer on construction projects and/or within an electrical working environment.

  • SAMTRAC qualification or equivalent health and safety certification.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining a Health and Safety Management System aligned with the Construction Regulations, 2014.

  • Proven knowledge and practical experience in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) processes.

  • Experience conducting incident investigations, including causation analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Valid Code B (light motor vehicle) driver's licence.

  • Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
