​The Green Recruitment Company are delighted to have exclusively partnered with a an integrated Green Hydrogen Developer, utilising both new & existing renewable energy resources in the production of emission free green hydrogen & derivative energy products.

This business are a Green Hydrogen early-mover with a 6GW+ deal pipeline across geographically diversified, lowest-cost renewable energy cost countries. This company’s project pipeline includes a JV with both a State-owned Oil Company and a State-Owned Utility and a pipeline of well-developed projects in Iberia.

As part of the companies striving success, TGRC seek to engage a brand-new, Technical Director to join the business.

Responsibilities;

  • Responsible for the ongoing review and monitoring of new and existing projects including assessment of solar and wind resources, logistical and infrastructure considerations, terrains, hydrogen production potential and levelized costs, production of various green hydrogen derivatives and export potential

  • Reviewing potential assets to be acquired or developed and identifying risks and proposing the relevant mitigation strategies.

  • Overseeing the selection and due diligence of new sites (brownfield or greenfield) from a technical perspective.

  • Providing technical input assumptions to the management team for the project cycle

  • Assisting with and preparing conceptual/road mapping/scoping reports across project pipeline

  • Developing a detailed understanding of green hydrogen, ammonia and synthetic fuel development in each of the target markets.

  • Supervising, liaising with and providing technical input to technical consultants engaged to work on the company projects from scoping through to commissioning.

  • Coordinating technical issues with strategic partners, joint development partners and other stakeholders.

  • Providing technical guidance and input into the key project contracts (EPC, O&M, MSA, PPA, Financing agreements)

  • Supporting the planning and technical optimisation of the projects from concept through to COD

  • Preparation of project schedules, incorporating all development and project delivery parameters.

  • Running external procurement processes to source supply chain services. This may include drafting RFPs and leading the external engagement with OEMs to source adequate technical solutions at a competitive cost

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers and advisors in the hydrogen markets.

  • Acting as the internal subject matter expert on Green Hydrogen and ammonia production technology and deployment, advising the company on green hydrogen and fuels policy, market rules & technological advancements.

  • Addressing any technical issues raised by the lender's advisors during the project financing process

  • Collaborate with members of the UK based and global team to support development activities and evaluate investment opportunities as part of cross functional teams

  • Monitor technical performance against business plans, engagement with other internal teams including finance, asset management and development to optimise returns and continuously seek improvements

The candidate:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Masters in Engineering discipline.

  • Membership of IEE, IET or similar Engineering Institution

  • Significant proven technical experience in the development, design and application of green hydrogen projects (including production of ammonia and synfuels)

  • Proven project engineering and delivery experience of green hydrogen projects in an engineering or consulting environment

  • Proven track record at delivering innovative solutions

  • Good and growing network of relationships across energy landscape including developers, OEMs, consultants, and other advisers

  • Leadership skills (resilience, patience and empathy) to work alongside more junior members of the team, partners and advisers.

  • Intellectual curiosity, ability to learn quickly and work independently

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, delivering results with tight deadlines and capable of multi-tasking

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Although not a requirement, proficient knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese (besides English) would be beneficial.
