My client has an urgent need for a highly motivated and independent research scientist to be a member their dynamic team. This position requires participation in the development of Smart Water Quality Monitoring product by transforming how water is measured, managed, and forecasted within a variety of applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware and analytical techniques for next-generation chemical sensors.
  • Carry out material for R&D work employing knowledge of electrochemical, piezoelectric, thermal, optical, and fluorescence-based sensors. 
  • Lead projects in the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods for drinking water, groundwater, and wastewater.
  • Work in the laboratory to bench-scale process development, pilot-scale development, and product prototyping.
  • Document knowledge and report R&D work as well as maintain QA/QC documentation and processes.
  • Collaborate with R&D, hardware, and production teams on process transfer and implementation of improved sensor technologies.

Education/Work History

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Physical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in material research & development for chemical sensor applications
  • Start-up/small company experience a plus

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of various electroanalytical and spectrophotometric methods, instrumentation, principles, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong familiarity with the design of experiments (DOE) methodology.
  • Proven examples of experience in chemical sensors development and characterization.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in water quality monitoring product development and technologies.
  • Experience in chemometric algorithms/method development for electrochemistry and spectrophotometry
  • Engineering design and prototyping development for scientific instrumentation.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously as well as participate in cross-functional teams.
