Overview

This role is a key interface to our clients. The main positive outcome of this role will be to ensure they understand and accepted the risk management and trading strategy; this includes any adaptations which are required as market or client circumstances change. If the price achieved is not the best possible, the clients need to know that this is consistent with their decisions about risk. The client stakeholders go over the full spectrum of understanding regarding energy procurement and forward-buying strategies, so the abilities to clarify concepts at an appropriate level of complexity and to debate complex trade-offs with an expert are both important. The role needs to increase the trust between the company and the clients.

Accountability/Key Responsibilities

  • Main responsibility: timely making and delivering of Risk Management Strategies which are understood and signed by clients – this will require expertise to establish credibility with well-informed clients / suppliers and a good communication style to engage with less well-informed clients
  • Development, design, implementation and ownership of best practise energy risk guides, policies, controls, strategies and plans – tactical and strategic – corporate level and individual clients and baskets level, considering portfolio purchasing optimisation
  • Implementation and development of risk methodology techniques, key performance indicators, benchmarking guidelines and performance reporting
  • Working closely with EU / UK suppliers and other counterparties (banks) to deliver and develop innovative energy procurement / risk management product and services to support growth
  • Support Account Management with client queries relating to trading and energy markets
  • Produce client reports on their trading performance and positions 
  • Produce client-ready market intelligence as required (based on analysis and research from Trading)
  • Provide consultation/ reactive communications with clients as needed, for example if we wish to deviate from the RMS
  • Support sales to new clients and existing clients as a subject matter expert in energy risk management, trading and markets
  • Create client budgets
  • Work in-line with the companies UK Code of Practice
